The minimum sdk for recycleview and the pros / cons of replacing the list with it

What is the minimum sdk currently for recyclerview . I have seen some posts about this, but they are all from 2014, so I am looking for new information. In addition, my application is heavily dependent on listviews and asynctasks , and I'm considering switching to recyclerview to add some animations, etc. My min sdk is 11 for the application, and I wonder if this change is possible or it will cause compatibility issues. Also, is the process of moving from the list to the time you use recyclerview or not?

RecyclerView is part of the v7 support library, which means that you can use it on all that have api 7 and up.

the conversion process is not trivial, but its not difficult either
