How do EmguCV detectors relate to EmguCV DescriptorExtractors?

Question

Reading Documents EmgCV cannot understand: which detectors can be used with which Extractors descriptor?

It says here :

You can use it with the FREAK descriptor that is scale invariant. Just replace the BriefDescriptorExtractor with Freak and it should do the trick. 

Does this mean that not all detectors are compatible with DescriptorExtractors? If so, where can I find comparisons and documentation on the topic?
