What does the pipePreDeployCopyAllFilesToOneFolder target do?

I have seen msbuild pass /t:pipelinePreDeployCopyAllFilesToOneFolder as the target. When searching the Internet, I found many forum posts and answers / answers about this goal. However, I did not find the official documentation.

This target typically matches the _PackageTempDir property.

My best guess is that purpose and property together mean that before deploying, copy all the files to the specified temp directory of the package.
