SplitView for ipad and menu drawer for iPhone

I am developing one universal application (for iPhone and iPad). The following is an application requirement.

Demand

1. There should be a menu (master on the left) and a part (on the right).

2. The iPhone or masterViewController menu should be on a drawer or drop-down menu. Drawer or slid out menu

3. iPad menu should be on rootViewController for splitView. menu in master of splitViewController

I have already tried

I tried to implement it using spiltViewController , for iPad it works fine ( MasterViewController goes to the left of the screen, and DetailViewController is on the right side of the screen), but for iPhone it just works as UINavigationController ( MasterViewController as rootViewController UINavigationController ).

What approach should be used to implement it?

With iOS8, you can use the UISplitViewController for this purpose.
