Testing IAP edge cases in iOS (for example: lack of credit card information, etc.)

Currently, the application has an application that uses IAP to disable ads and add several features.

However, we noticed that some users are having trouble purchasing IAP. After careful study, it seems that most of them boil down to the fact that there was no active Internet connection at the time of purchase. However, about a dozen cases could not be tracked and resolved.

One of them:

  • tap buy IAP
  • Credit Card Security Code Not Yet Completed
  • Purchase error
  • the user is automatically moved to his App Store account to fill in the missing code.
  • user fills in code and confirms IAP purchase
  • user returns to application
  • purchase still failed (!)

Conclusion: the user has paid and has not yet received the IAP. (of course, this can be solved by clicking on the IAP again and downloading for free, but this is not ideal)

We want to check the solution to such cases. However, test accounts usually do not require valid CC information. In this way..
