Android Studio "Error - Could not save project: null"

Question

I had a problem with android studio where I constantly get this dialog error every time I try to save a class or move to / from a project:

"Error - Could not save project: null"

I have no idea what causes this and how to fix it. My version for the Android version of Android is set to 1.1.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I followed the instructions at the bottom of the post:

It seemed to work for a while, but the problem returned after a while.

UPDATE:

I tried reinstalling Android Studio, which worked for a while, now it's back.
