API Limitations for BI BI

The Power BI plan comparison and listing table at the URL below indicates the maximum total data size (1 GB for free or 10 GB) and the maximum bandwidth limits for streaming (10 thousand lines per hour for free or 1 million lines per hour). https://powerbi.com/dashboards/pricing/ Specific questions: (1) How are data size limits measured? Is this the size of the raw data or the size of a compressed tabular model? The page does not indicate which size limit applies. (2) Are bandwidth restrictions applied ONLY when using the Azure Stream Analytics preview connector, or are they also applied when using the REST API? for example, if you use the free BI power level (and assuming that I do not go over the limit of the total size of 1 GB), this is the maximum number of lines that I can send per hour, limited to 10 thousand (for example, 2 calls within an hour of 5 thousand lines each or 4 calls of 2.5 thousand lines, etc.)?

Good questions.

The data limit is based on the amount of data sent to the Power BI service. If you send us a book, the size of the workbook is calculated against your quota. If you send us data rows, the size of the uncompressed data rows is calculated against your quota. Our service is in preview right now, so if we move forward, there may be a change. Limits apply to any Power BI API subscriber. Details of the limits are listed at the bottom of this article: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/dn950053.aspx . Use is additive if you have placed 5K lines, then you can publish additional 5K lines within an hour.
