R plot () creates date stamps in Russian

Question

I am working on a machine with the Russian version of Win 8.1.

When installing RStudio, I chose English as the default language, but when working with dates (POSIXt), plot() gives me output with Russian labels on the time axis.

How can i fix this? I want english.

Based on Pascal's comment, the answer to the question is to set the language standard

 Sys.setlocale(category = "LC_ALL", locale = "english") 

Another option is to change the OS locale.
