ModelAdmin filter resets itself

Is there a way to make ModelAdmin filters more persistent? Currently, if you filter, edit the DataObject, and return, the filter will disappear. Also prev / next from unclecheese / betterbuttons do not respect the filter. It moves on to the next object, but not necessarily to one of the filtered objects. I think there was a module for 2.4 called RemodelAdmin that did some of this, but since everyone is now based on GridFiled, these seams look like something completely different. Has anyone done some work in this direction for SilverStripe> 3 or some hint on how to do this?

I believe that you should remove the best module buttons so that the filter is still present when you select the "back" or "back" action.
