I am new to HLS streaming. There is a mediastreamvalidator on the MAC with which I can check the .m3u8 file.
The question is how to check on linux. I looked around, but could not find a way.
I found that TSLemurs HLS Checker Tool is very good for checking HLS streams. It is available for free here: http://www.tslemurs.com/ott/hls_checker_tool.html
It doesn't seem to support gzipped m3u8 files or http redirects, but it was very useful for debugging my m3u8 playlist format.
