Flake8 does not collect the configuration file

Question

I have a flake8 configuration flake8 in ~/.config/flake8

 [flake8] max-line-length = 100 

However, when I run flake8 , the configuration file is not flake8 . I know, because I still get warnings over strings longer than 79 char.

I'm on redhat, but the same thing is happening on mac.

I am using pyenv. Global - 2.7.6 (not even sure if this is relevant)

This was caused by a regression in pep8 1.6.1 and allowed by the just-released version 1.6.2.
