How to host a NodeJS http web server on a raspberry PI / or any Linux PC

I have seen people host Apache servers on a raspberry PI and, of course, on regular computers. I don’t want or don't rent a VPS, and thought it was best to set it up on my raspberry PI 2 B:

(1gb ram/32gb disk/1ghz on overclock) 

What is the correct way to configure the NodeJS http web server on a computer? Can you connect me with the textbook if it exists (could not be found).

I was also wondering if I would be better off renting a VPS with fixed costs and no settings / controls or on a working PC. Keep in mind that I want to practice some projects that work on multiple PIs (like a chef).

I need this server to access over the Internet via ip or domain. How do I set this up? (I have domains)

Yes, you can use raspberries as your VPS or dedicated server. Just assign a static IP address (you need to buy) to your raspberries, and then point your domain name to this static IP address.
