Installing Oracle Developer Tools 12 does not allow me to claim that I have Windows XP. I have windows 7

I got ODTwithODAC121021 here. It sets the bits of Oracle Client, ODAC and ODT.

When I run the installer, the verification of the required condition fails:

Reference data is not available for release "12.1" in the distribution package of the operating system "Windows XP5.1".

I actually have Windows 7 Professional SP1

A?

My intention is to get the ODT bit in Visual Studio 2010 so that I can use Server Explorer and Entity Framework. I do not need a new Oracle client, I already have one that matches our version of 11g server, but it seems I can not choose this installer that will not work.

Suggestions? thanks.

This is a bug in this particular version of the Oracle installer. Here is a workaround:

After verifying that the installer is not running, open this file in the staging area where you unzipped ODAC:

.... \ stage \ KIU \ resume \ admin \ cvu_config

And in this file, change the value of CV_ASSUME_DISTID, which is there 6.1

Then save the changes and run the installer again.

This will force the installer to assume that you have Windows 7.
