InstallShield LE 1001 Error / Install Windows Service in Windows XP

I got a 1001 error and fought a lot with it using InstallShield LE (Visual Studio 2013) to deploy a simple Windows service on Windows XP.

Sometimes an error occurred, sometimes not.

And finally, I found the reason: The My Services.msc window was open, and when I delete the service, it gets "marked for removal", but the window keeps this service there until I close it.

So, close the services.msc window when reinstalling the service to avoid this blocking problem.

I have a Windows Service installation created on Win7 with InstallShield LE, VS 2015 and installed on a Win Sever 2012 machine. In my case, the error occurred due to two different things in the user part of the installation:

  • Invalid password and
  • Cannot include the domain name (domain \ username) in the username field of the credential dialog box.

Hope this helps someone.

I am using VS2012 and InstallShield LE

I also ran into the same problem. In my case, the service was not removed from the Service.msc window. Apparently, the registry was not completely cleaned up when I previously deleted it (from "Add or Remove Programs").

Then I tried the command below. SC DELETE Then he cleared all the changed entries in the registry, and this time the installation went fine.

The following is help for this command (taken from SC help on the command line) delete ---------- Deletes the service (from the registry).
