Yosemite SSL: CA certificate set, but certificate verification disabled

Since installing Yosemite, I get an SSL error all the time: CA certificate, but certificate verification is disabled. This happens with every https url in the terminal. Can't find how to fix this, any suggestions? thanks frank

For others coming here, trying to understand why they are encountering this problem with Wordpress and possibly also WooCommerce and are on OS X Yosemite, then you will need to follow Asaph / Cupcake's answer to "osx 10.10 Curl POST to HTTPS url gives SSLRead () "Error ( fooobar.com/questions/79741 / ... )

Mostly the cURL issue uses Apple SecureTransport instead of OpenSSL. The one associated with the answer will guide you through testing the SSL version and fixing it will follow.

One warning I came across, I already installed php 5.5.21 via homebrew, but my system did not use it. I disconnected 5.5.21 by running "brew unlink php55

I found the wrong setting in .gitconfig in the [http] section. I added sslVerify=false and removed the other settings in this section, and it fixed my problem.
