Gmail API Quota Costs

We are creating a service that uses the Gmail API. To understand our costs as we scale, I would like to know how much it costs to use the Gmail API. I followed the instructions https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/v1/reference/quota to the point where it says:

If you activated billing for your project [we have], click β€œQuota” brings you to a page where you can view and change the settings related to quotas.

The only option on this page to change our daily quota is "Apply for a higher quota"; however, clicking opens a window that says:

Please review your existing quota limits to confirm that you need more than a daily default. If you just have a question about limits, ask him on the Stack Overflow Forum stack

So I ask here: what is the cost of an API unit when it is necessary to exceed the daily free quota?

The API is not marked as β€œpaid”, which means that it is free to the limit and there are no set / published prices above. If you are using an existing quota or are approaching and want to ask for more, I think it is best to ask about the quota request form. It is wise to ask for a quota to provide several quarters of IMO growth, and if you are switching from any other API (for example, IMAP, Atom feed, DOM hacking), then it is obvious that it is reasonable to foresee all this in advance.
