Eclipse annoying: Debug and Launch toolbars not available

I am running Windows XP and Eclipse 4.2.2 Build id: M20130204-1200 and I have lost my Debug and Launch toolbars. I tried using the Windows> Reset Perspective (initial values) and Window> Customize Perspectives options (toolbar availability and command group availability). I tried the Layout option in the Debug view. All could not return them. Right now I am looking at the Toolbar Visibility tab, and the message that says: "Debugging" is not available because it is in the inaccessible "null" command. > However, the "Debug" checkbox in "Group Availability" is checked.

I also tried right-clicking and Reset on the perspective buttons. Switching to another eclipse setting (the same computer) did not help either.

Rebooting does not help.

Are there text configuration files where this data is stored that can be manipulated outside of eclipse?

I had this problem in Eclipse Kepler, it turned out that it was caused by the PyDev plugin. I fixed it by removing the plugin and right-clicking on the debug perspective button and selecting Reset.

I already installed a new copy and the problems continued. But, inspired by the comments of user714965, I tried again, but this did not solve the problem. Then I threw all the eclipse installation folders (to the trash), reinstalled a new copy, and the problem did not disappear. Then I started a new workspace and it seemed like the toolbars were back. Then they restored the previous eclipse settings, and they also had a Debug toolbar!

I somehow think that the configuration configuration files were broken. It would be nice to know where these files are stored (my initial question): are they global for each user on the machine, or are they specific workspaces? It seems to me that some settings are global, while others are project specific.

Maybe it's time to try the new Android studio :-)

Your eclipse seems to be broken. The fastest way to get it back is to download a new copy from eclipse.org . You can continue to use your current workspace so that your settings remain. But you have to reinstall all the plugins ... I always keep a backup of the new version with the plugins that I use. I suggest you do the same in the future.
