How to restore a Wamp server without reinstalling?

After making changes to php.ini using uncommenting

extension=php_openssl.dll 

My Windows-8 system shut down due to a power failure, and later I use this error when I try to start a wamp server

Later, having visited some link, I added the code below to the wampmanager.ini file, since it was empty

Now the first error has been fixed and now throws this error, mentioned below:

Later, I also installed visual C ++ 2008 to fix this error, but to no avail. I have many important databases that I also did not support. I am trying to restore this Wamp server without reinstalling. Can anyone help me on this.

This document can help you. How to remove WAMPServer without actually uninstalling it.

The idea is that you uninstall your current version without actually running uninstall and do not actually delete any files from the existing installation.

Then you will rename the current wamp folder, and then install the same version of wamp, make sure it works, and then copy all your sites and databases to the new one you installed. If you install the WAMP version exactly, at present you can copy the entire folder ... /mysqlx.yz/data and all your databases and users should be there in the new installation.

It depends on what damage your existing installation has done. You may need to edit php.ini and httpd.conf to suit your existing configuration. I suggest you not to make a direct copy of any of these files, as this may lead you to where you are right now.

go to wamp / scripts folder
open console
to run:
php refresh.php

this should recreate wampmanager.ini

(wampmanager.tpl file is required in the wamp folder.

Fixed installing wamp again in the same directory, renaming the old wamp. I just replaced the wampmanager.ini file with a new one with the old one. Previously, it was just a small piece of code that was inserted into the wampmanager.ini file. But now this is the big question that fixed this problem. Thank you very much guys, your suggestions have saved my time. I also did not change anything with php.ini.

I had the same problem. I am working with WAMP 2.5. The contents of "wampmanager.ini" are fine, but it is possible that the php path is incorrect. Check the folders of the [StartupAction] section, in my case my php version is "php5.5.12". Of course, there was an "Invalid directory name" error message for this.

• Back up all YOUR databases in SQL format and keep backups in a safe place.
• Stop all services.
• Uninstall the Apache service.
• Delete the MySQL service.
• Exit WAMPServer.
• Rename your current \ wamp folder to \ wamp_old (this is your backup. DO NOT FORGET THIS STEP)

For all purposes and goals you have uninstalled WAMPServer now. 7. Download and install the new version of WAMPServer (A 32-bit version is recommended, a 64-bit version is intended only for developers, and 64-bit PHP is not yet fully converted to 64-bit).

8. Change NOTHING! Check if it is running out of the box.

Clear your browser's cache (CTRL + F5) to avoid any confusion with cached content. MYSQL: copy \ wamp_old \ bin \ mysql \ mysqlx.yz folder \ wamp \ bin \ mysql \ mysqlx.yz

10. To inform WAMPServer about the old version of Apache / PHP / MySQL that you just copied, run “upgrade”, right-click the wampmanager → Update icon. Give it a few seconds to find all new versions.

11. Compare your old configurations with new configurations, go to any of your local changes / requirements. Remember that configuration options vary between versions of Apache / PHP / MySQL! Make sure that your old changes are still necessary, valid, legal. (Check the update notes provided by all 3 software providers)

12. If everything goes horribly wrong. Check the bottom of this document to find out how easy it is to unwind all of these changes if you have problems.

In win10, you can simply right-click on the wampmanager.ini file in the root directory and select "Restore previous version", and then just select one from a few days ago when it worked.

I have a problem simulating in the morning and searching for SO and other forums, but none of the solutions worked for me.

It was

syntax error on line 561 (due to MariaDB)

After checking the entire wamp installation for MariaDB, I find out that the root: wampmanager.conf contains lines about MariaDB. I deleted all of them and then restarted wamp . It worked like a charm!
