Is mod_perl dead?

This has been a long time since mod_perl was indeed updated and it seems that its development has stopped on Apache 2.2. I was expecting it to be available for Apache 2.4 now for a very long time, but this has not happened yet.

I am trying to find an updated answer (for 2014) about its current status, but all I find are very old posts in forums and mailing lists.

Mod_perl really was solid for me and my applications, and I just complain that I can’t upgrade to Apache 2.4 yet. It currently works great with Perl 5.20, which is the latest version of Perl at the moment.

So, I hope someone informed or even included this question in StackOverflow:

Is mod_perl modified?

As of July 26, 2014, I do not believe mod_perl is dead. The source code for mod_perl can be found at:

The source code change log shows what it was doing the last 6 weeks ago related to Apache 2.4.

In addition, mod_perl user mailing list archives can be found at:

The activity there, apparently, is very consistent with active use, and the developer Steve Hay (who is credited with the ones listed above) commented as recently as June 23, 2014, they are very close to the release of version 2.0.9 with support for Apache 2.4.
