I have a Windows 7/64 Pro window with Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate, redesigned to version 4, with a problem.
Over the past week, I began to experience a problem that was initially tolerable, but now has become worse than the issue of unsuitability, and I need some (some?) Suggestions. Perhaps this is more appropriate than the Microsoft problem than the pure programming problem, but I thought that maybe someone might run into this problem, so I take a picture here.
Problem: ID2 VS2012, moments after launch, captures without loading a solution or project, switching to the "Do not respond" mode, never return. The worst part is that when this happens, it blocks the OS from starting any 32-bit processes, and 64-bit processes are not completely responsive.
This happened only once or twice in the last week, and therefore I assumed that it was a strange / one-time situation, and did not think that this was a chronic problem. Today it has become chronic. Considering that this symptom was unusual in the last few days, today it has prevented me from working in VS2012 all day. The VS2012 IDE will respond for a short time and then capture.
After doing a little research on the nature of the problem and observing it, it didnβt happen until I started VS2012, I began to understand that it should be connected with the VS executable file or with the additional devenv.exe that starts with This. However, the real culprit was the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.Host.exe executable, which provides a web version of the VS host environment that caused the problem.
When ID2 VS2012 is captured, killing the Web.Host.exe process will immediately release the IDE and allow 32-bit queued applications to run. However, the symptom will return as soon as the web hosting process is restarted.
I upgraded VS2012 to version 4 and performed a VS2012 repair, and nothing has changed. There are no errors in the event logs that may indicate hardware problems (for example, hard disk failure) or any other problems with a lower level / organic OS. Actually, nothing needs to be configured (what I know) on the side of the web hosting, therefore, to completely reinstall VS2012, I'm not sure what else to try.
I saw a passing resemblance to this error on the Microsoft Connect forum, but the symptoms were not essentially identical, and the prescribed fix (VS2012 to Update 4) was useless.
Edit: A small bit of additional information - the only unusual element that may turn out to be an "x-factor" in this situation, is the recent switch to TFS - in the last week - frighteningly coinciding with the beginning of the problem. But, thinking that the SCC provider would be less interested in content than supporting things like Intellisense, debugging, etc., I found it hard to convince myself that it would be a player. At the moment, however, who knows.
Any suggestions appreciated.
