I struggled with this problem for a while that my DNA droid would not be recognized by Android Studio. Initially, I thought it was related to drivers - it was also HTC Manager. I received this update successfully. Nothing yet. Then the windows did not recognize the actual device in the device manager and did not perform the update.

Then I realized that the usb port that I used was not compatible with the usb cord that I used to update for USB Mass Storage. I moved the usb ports and restarted the update for windows drivers. No adb detected yet. Did more digging and found a great step-by-step fix. The latest version of the software for my DNA phone has been completely removed and hid the developer settings in the settings. Verizon help resources had a fix. My phone was not configured to run usb debugging (it has nothing to do with going through the Internet through the settings, which, as I thought, were replacing the developer settings for an hour or more).

Briefly do this (these elements look interactive and usually do nothing, except in this case) in the settings - About the program - Information about the software - Additionally - Press the build number 7 times. You will begin to receive a Toast message about becoming a developer. After you return to the main settings, the developer options are now visible and accessible.

Hope this helps and saves the other 4 hours I spent on it. Applications are now installed for debugging on my device.

I had the same problem. After setting up debugging by phone, I still could not connect. I went to the HTC website and downloaded and installed "HTC Sync Manager". My phone was now connected to the PC correctly, and Android Studio recognized my phone and I was able to debug the application.

If your USB device driver is not installed, you cannot find it anywhere. You must create the driver manually. first download the Android USB driver for Windows 8.1. then open the inf file and change it. I described here: Which driver must be installed on my Android device

Had the same problem while trying to debug using my Motorola X919, "USB device not found."

First of all, I decided to turn on the option "Developer mode" and "USB debugging" on my phone. When I connected my device to the laptop, the driver installation process started automatically, and then it failed.

Then I downloaded the Motorola device manager (should be the equivalent for other brands) and installed it with the phone connected, and it installed the necessary drivers, so now Android ADB recognizes my phone and I can debug my application using a physical device.
