What is the status of Microsoft Sync Framework 2.1

I am looking for a synchronization structure that will be used to synchronize SQL and SQL-SQL databases with Azure Sql. We used Sync Framework 2.1 for a while with SQL Server Express and Sql Azure with good success, but Sync Framework 2.1 is getting pretty old. Does anyone know if the Sync Framework is dead? If so, does anyone know of a good alternative.

The latest update was the Sync Framework Toolkit (presumably v4.0), released a couple of years ago ...

afaik, without an update (release 2.2 was suspended), and it is still supported (there was no official announcement that it will be discontinued).
