Intellij checks for updates: unable to connect

The following screenshot appears for several days. Do other people see this?

Note. To be sure that this was not a common connection error, in addition to being able to post this sof post, I made a github pull. This is convincing confirmation that my network proxies were turned off correctly: and it worked fine. Therefore, the message is puzzling.

Perhaps a known bug was fixed in Intellij IDEA 13.1 (March 27, 2014).

  • Go to the "Settings / Updates" section, then click the "Check Now" button.
  • Result: normal update information.

Disabling Validation Use a secure connection in the above window may fix the problem in some circumstances.

To fix this problem:

  • Select "Settings / HTTP Proxies"
  • Select the switch: Automatically detect proxy server settings or just No proxy

If you select Automatically detect proxy server settings :

  • Check the box for the automatic proxy server configuration URL and enter the proxy server URL
  • Select Test Connection Button

Worked for me!
