NetLogo Video Capture File Size and Format

Following http://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/docs/programming.html#movies . I created a video of my model consisting of a run of 2351 ticks. He created a 1 GB video !. The video lasts only two and a half minutes. I seem to understand why. I tried changing the frame rate to the still huge file size. It gives a file size of 560 MB for 10 seconds of the movie! What am I missing here?

Also, is it possible to extract videos in a different format than .mov, such as .mp4 or .avi, which are Windows or VLC friendly? Just changing the extension does not seem to do the job.

Expected (albeit unsuccessful) behavior - both file size and lack of flexibility in the format.

It covers https://github.com/NetLogo/NetLogo/issues/166 . See Also https://github.com/NetLogo/NetLogo/issues/165 . Summary: You will need to use a separate tool to compress and / or convert the .mov file. Or do not use movie commands at all, use export-view or export-interface and use a separate tool to create a compressed movie from the resulting PNG files.
