Is the QuickBooks API QBD V3 really outdated?

I just started developing the Intuit App yesterday and was really going to integrate with QuickBooks Desktop. Then today I logged in to continue, and was greeted by several missing pages on the Intuit IPP website and a link that says "Deprecated QBO V2 and QBD V2, V3." The only API that doesn't seem to be out of date is QBO V3.

I cannot find any announcement from Intuit about any upcoming announcement. Does anyone have any information on whether I can continue to develop my application for connecting to QBD or do I need to talk with our accountant to upgrade to QBO?

EDIT: I received Jarred's answer as an accepted answer because he contacted Intuit and responded to my specific situation. Also check out Charlie's answers for more information related to other scenarios.

Intuit will not prevent you from going live with your application that you spent the last 6 months. We have a set of guides for grandfathers in developers who have invested in using the VEST REST API for QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions.

@Charlie, if you can correct your claim that you are NOT published, you need to use the QBXML SDK. This is too general, we will evaluate each developer in each case.

Yours faithfully,
Jarred

This week I interviewed several people from Intuit at the Sleeter Accounting Solutions conference, including (among other things) Dan Wernikov, Senior Vice President.

I will have an article on my blog about this ( http://www.sleeter.com/blog/ ) next week - I will transcribe my entries and clarifying points.

There are many points here, but to decide what you are looking for -

If you are writing an IPP application using V3 for QBO - no problem (and in fact, there is good news).

If you have already published IPP using V3 and Sync Manager for the desktop, you will receive ongoing support, but do not expect any progress there (unless you are someone big like American Express).

If you have not published IPP for the desktop yet - your SDK option. And there is much more information about this output.

LESS CHANGE IN FOLLOW DATE: If you work with IPP for the desktop, you MAY get approval to continue - there are no guarantees about this (but they seem to be lenient). But, in my opinion, you cannot expect any significant new features (for example, access to data) unless you are a significant partner with a contract with them (for example, American Express).

My entry on this subject is available at http://www.sleeter.com/blog/2013/11/quickbooks-software-integration/

Please note that Dan Vernikov, Intuit's senior vice president, commented on several of my blog posts.

Blair, you have reasonable care. However, given the REASONS that they made this change, I would SPECIFICATE that Intuit will not pull the SDK. It is currently unclear, LOT of support, that they will let the SDK move forward.

And, as we have seen for several years, everything can change ...
