Is my macbook pro x86 linux or x86_64 darwin?

This may be a very stupid question, but I need to know what platform my Macbook Pro is. I want to download the Eclipse plugin for code in Ada and it asks for my platform. I use Macbook pro, so it is x86 - linux (or) x86_64-linux (or) x86_65-darwin, and also what year. Again, this can be really stupid, but I need help :)

So thanks for the help guys.

If you open a terminal and enter the set command and press the enter key, you will see a long list of env variables. MACHTYPE (usually pretty far down) should tell you what you are using.

 MACHTYPE=x86_64-apple-darwin13

... this is what my Macbook Air is on.

To just see that write set | grep "MACHTYPE" set | grep "MACHTYPE"

This is perhaps an unorthodox solution, but works on anything ...

Take the latest GNU project config.guess - this is used in many packages using the autotools build system. Just run this shell script and you will get a brief triple of cpu-vendor-os.
