Find channel country in youtube api v3

In v2 from the youtube api, I could get the country of the channel by getting its user information ( https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/userId ) and looking at the Location Property . It looks like it does not exist in v3 api .

Since I’m only interested in channels from a certain country, is there a way to find out which country the channel is in?

The only workaround is guideCategories .

You can list guideCategories by region .

Then in your channel-> list you can connect this category of identifiers .

It looks like the V2 API has finally been closed.

Has anyone been able to come up with a workaround for this since the V3 API does not support it?

I read the API docs, and although fields (snippet.country) are available for this data, it does not seem to populate in the vast majority of channels.

I need to find the common region (country) that the channel / video is associated with. Nothing more subtle than that.

The regionCode parameter regionCode NOT do what you think :)
It simply sends back videos that are ARE AVAILABLE in this country, and not PUBLISHED in the country.

As this answer suggests making the code Search: list and the regional code.
