I had a strange problem with Sharepoint 2010, when users with access permissions always tried to open in read-only mode when trying to open a document. I looked at the farm configuration and everything seems fine. I also noticed that users with Office 2013 can open and edit documents without any problems. At that moment I knew that this was due to the version of the client office, and not to Sharepoint. After many studies, I found a solution.
- On the client computer experiencing the problem, click "RUN", then enter "RegEdit".
- go this way HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Office \ 14.0 \ Common \ Internet
- Right-click and create a new "DWORD" entry and give it the name "FSSHTTPOff"
- Double-click the new entry and enter a value of 1.
After that, you may need to restart your computer, but it is not always required. after a user with office 2010 can edit documents in Sharepoint.
Note that in order to apply this change to all users, your IT administrator will need to push this change as a network policy change.
Hope this solution helps someone :)
