Sometimes a simulator can be hung without any obvious reason. Xcode shows on the status display that the application is running.

If this happens, click the home button of the simulator, and then click the application icon again. Then the application will appear again, and everything will be visible if you stop the application or the debugger.

I initially made it unnecessary. Link to the button output in the internal view [inside the main view] to the main view. Whenever I made changes to the storyboard, the “main view” [not the entire screen] displayed a black screen. After removing the link to the button, it worked correctly.

Solution 1: Quit simulator then clear Xcode (clean and clean build folder) and then run again.
