Hotkey for execute query in SQL view

Is there a shortcut for the Microsoft Access query editor to execute SQL? This click is driving me crazy.

Not really a hotkey combination; you have to press each key sequentially:

Alt , H , W , H to switch to table view

Alt , H , W , D to switch to design view

If you right-click on the ribbon button to switch to different views (design, table, sql, etc.), you can add the button to the quick access toolbar. After that, you can press Alt + # (where # is the number for any position that the button is on the quick access panel).

New Office applications support common keyboard shortcuts from earlier versions, so in the Access query builder we can use Alt + V , D to represent Design, Alt + V , S to represent DataSheet and Alt + V , Q to view sQl.

To start a request for action (for example, UPDATE, DELETE) Alt + Q , R (for Query> Run) also works.

(Tested in Access 2010 and 2013, it may work in Access 2007 as well.)

Ctrl + . from query design to datasheet Ctrl + , from datasheet to query design

It seems to me that these are the keys for > and < :

 Ctrl + > from query design to datasheet Ctrl + < from datasheet to query design

I did not show them above, because that would suggest you also press the Shift .

These commands cycle through various views, including anchor points. I am not interested in the possibility of โ€œaccessingโ€ Access, and I do not want to accidentally launch it, so this may be the reason for using one of the other methods.

To start the request in access mode 2013, shortcuts are used here

 F10, J, Q, G

Try it yourself.

This is a great shortcut for any of you who customize your toolbar. For most of you, Millenials, your toolbar is a small group of three buttons in the upper left corner of the Access window that never made much sense to you ...: o) This is a real-time splash screen if you figure out how to use it his.

Add a RUN button to the left edge of the toolbar. Now - ALT , then 1 (not ALT + 1 ) will run your request. Press these buttons one by one, unlike the CTRL shortcut.

I just made this AutoHotKey script, which will lead you directly to the SQL Editor view in Access.

Access 2016:

 f8:: SetKeyDelay 100 Send {Alt}cqd!c{Alt}{Left 4}{Down}{Enter}{Alt}{Right 4}{Alt}^{F10} Return

Access 2010:

 f8:: SetKeyDelay 100 Send {Alt}cqd!c{Alt}{Left 4}{Down}{Enter 2}{Alt}{Right 4}{Alt}^{F10} Return

Instruction:

  • Download and install AutoHotKey .
  • Create a text file called whatever.ahk and copy this script into it. Save.
  • Double-click the file. This will not execute the script, but will load AHK into memory.
  • Open the Access database.
  • Press the F8 key and the script will launch and land in the SQL editor.

Note # 1: you donโ€™t need to double-click the file each time - after starting it, it will continue to work until you close it. You can see the icon on the taskbar. All you have to do is press F8 every time you want to open the SQL editor.

Note # 2: You can replace F8 with any key / combination of your choice, just be careful not to run into existing keyboard shortcuts. F8 doesn't seem to do anything in Access (initially), so it works great. Iโ€™m so sick of clicking the 10X mouse over all accesses every time I want to open the SQL editor โ€” you'll love it!
