2 itemprops for 2 colors of the same product?

In a product with two colors, is it better to use two itemprop elements or only one?

 <meta itemprop="color" content="red" /> <meta itemprop="color" content="black" />

or

 <meta itemprop="color" content="red and black" />

I am using the https://schema.org/ dictionary.

From the point of view of Microdata, both ways are possible. The difference is that you add two values in the first case and one value in the second case.

From the point of view of Schema.org, wed should understand how this property is intended to be used. Description color says:

Product color.

A single value is used here, so this may be a hint for using your first example. But he uses "color" rather than "color", which may suggest that they only thought about cases where a product has only one (primary) color.

I think it makes sense to use several color properties. When using their own property for each value, consumers do not need to parse your string (possibly containing multiple colors) and trying to extract each color.

The only time Id considers using a single property containing multiple colors will be if I consider it a β€œnew color containing other colors,” so to speak.

Oh, and just to be sure: your markup means that one product is red and black, and not that you have a product, red or black.
