What does wmic bios get serialnumber really extract?

I wonder what actually gives you the wmic bios get serialnumber Windows serial number code?

Is this the serial number of your motherboard? The documentation is not entirely clear.

the wmic bios get serialnumber calls the Win32_BIOS class and gets the value of the SerialNumber property, which retrieves the BIOS chip number of your system.

run cmd

Type wmic baseboard get product,version,serialnumber

Press the enter key. The result you see under the serial number column is the serial number of your motherboard

if it is launched from the command line (launching the launch should also do the trick) displays the serial number of the product,
(for example, on a toshiba laptop, it will print the serial number of the laptop.
with this serial number, you can then identify your laptop model, if you need, from the manufacturer’s service website - usually .. :) :)
