How can I profile C ++ with gcc / gprof with "-fomp" and "-pg -fprofile-create"?

I am confused about whether it is possible to compile / link the profiling assembly for gprof using gcc with OpenMP enabled. The gcc docs seem to be silent on this subject, as far as my search queries confirm it. Experimentally adding only the -fomp switch causes a SIGPROF error on startup.

It is also unclear whether http://projekt17.pub.lab.nm.ifi.lmu.de/ompp/downloads/$pkgname-$pkgver.tgz supports, since the included document only refers to icc with a simple file. If possible, how to add it to an existing build system? [Note: I am a self-taught newb working on a hobby project, please write. Thanks.]

Based on what you have stated so far, I’ll say that what you see is a fight against a signal processor between OpenMP environment libraries and profiling — during profiling, the POSIX profiling timer is used, which generates SIGPROF when it expires but the OpenMP environment knocked down the SIGPROF handler for the process using the default handler when it configured the signal handlers.

It seems that OpenMP itself provides some kind of profiling API, but GCC support for it is in the background .
