Why doesn't the Wordnet dictionary contain the word "she"?

The answer is in the frequently asked questions of WordNet (which I just discovered), as well as in this other question .

Basically, she is a pronoun, a word that stands still for a noun. Instead of referring to Betty by her name - this is her own name, you can call her she .

The pronouns themselves (without Betty, in this case) actually contain no meaning. Some people, such as WordNet people, call this word private class words. By design, WordNet includes open-class words .

a. WordNet contains only open class words: nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Thus, excluded words include determinants, prepositions, pronouns, conjunctions, and particles.

Wordnet is not a standard dictionary, for example, if you search for "it", you will receive a helium element and the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet as definitions. However, you are not included in the definition of a noun referring to a person.

My best guess is that "she" is not contained, because she has no definition of anything but a noun pertaining to a woman. I say it’s better to guess because I am not a language expert, so I can’t say definitively that he has no other definitions. If you look “he” at thefreedictionary.com, although it does have links to helium and Hebrew. If you look at “she,” she has only sex-related definitions.

tl; dr The reason “she” does not exist as a word in wordnet is because by their rules (or what you want to call) it is not a word.
