Change the background color of a row or range if a particular cell value is equal to some text

What I have:

1 Col A Col B Col C Col D Col E Col F 2 3 Approved Text Text Text Text Text 4 Reject Text Text Text Text Text 5 Pending Text Text Text Text Text

I want to:

  • If the value of column A is Approved , then all row-3 should have a green background.
  • If the value of column A is equal to Reject , then all row-4 should have a red background.
  • If the value of column A is Pending , then the entire row-5 should have an amber background.

How to change the background color of a row or range if a particular cell value is equal to some text?

Based on Excel 2007:

SO18355419 example

Those. three separate rules are created in conditional formatting, each of which has a formula of the type = $ A1 = "Approved" and formatting in accordance with and with the Appendix: a reasonable maximum for the range that needs to be formatted.
