Is groovy a potential development language for Android

I recently started using groovy as an alternative to Java, and I would like to develop Android applications in groovy. All the examples I explored seem pretty old.

So, I was wondering, is it possible to develop Android applications in groovy?

This is a great idea, and it has been tested with partial success - there was a DiscoBot project that partially worked - see http://skillsmatter.com/podcast/groovy-grails/groovy-android

However, this is a complicated proposition, albeit because of the size of Groovy runtime, and because most of what Groovy does to implement a dynamic language is not fully supported by VM Dalvik.

However, it works.

I assume that the reason you got some “close” votes is because you could find all this information for yourself using a quick search in your favorite search engine.
