Does the Google Cast extension for Google Chrome 1080p extend?

In the settings for the Google Cast extension in the "Tab projection quality" section, there are three options:

Extreme (720p bit) High (720p) Standard (480p)

1080p not specified.

I assume that if I play 1080p video, which will work because it sends the video to Chromecast, but will I limit 720p for regular HTML web pages?

This is most likely a user issue, not a development issue.

The Google Cast extension for Chrome provides two main features:

  • Chrome mirroring - limited to 720p. This works by encoding your tab in WebM / Opus and then sending it to your Chromecast.
  • The Google Cast API for Chrome, which allows your webpage to stream video to a Chromecast device. Which, of course, can be full 1080p. The official documentation .
