Applications for Windows phones with the same GUID - create more applications from one application

I made a Windows Phone 7 application. I copy the same application 10 times to create 10 different applications, since the only differences in these 10 applications were images. But now I can not install 2 applications on the emulator, since they have the same GUID. I tried to use the GUID generator tool and replaced the product identifier in the WMAppManifest.xml file as well as the GUID in the Assembly Information with the new generated GUID , but as soon as I Restore the solution, it will return to the previous GUID and still replace another application already installed with that same GUID. Can someone help me why this is happening? Did I miss something?

I finally started to work! It can help someone who can get stuck just like me.

The error I made was that I entered the GUID generated by the tool in UpperCase while it should be placed in "LowerCase". The GUID Generator tool in Visual Studio 2012 generates a GUID like this: " AAB123-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxx ", and the WMAppManifest.xml file is " aab123-xxxx-xxxx -xxxxxxx ".

So, the steps for changing the GUID of any project are as follows:

  • Go to www.guidgen.com
  • Copy the GUID.
  • Open the assembly and paste it into the GUID field ( lowercase only ).
  • Open the WMAppManifest.xml file and paste it again into the productID field ( lowercase again )
  • Rebuild and deploy the solution.

To avoid an error in the GUID, follow these steps:

  • Copy project folder
  • Change the name to a .csproj file.
  • Add the copied project to the project: right-click on the solution → Add → Existing project ...
  • Open the WMAppManifest.xml file and replace the product identifier (you can use the generator)

This works for me. If I distribute several projects on the phone, I can see all of them, they will not be replaced.
