Sendmail on OpenShift / PHP / CodeIgniter

I am looking for OpenShift configuration information for sendmail functions.

I donโ€™t quite understand what is the preferred way to do this.

Some articles say that you need pear / Mail.php modules installed, others say that this would be when using a relay. Others say that OpenShift supports outbound mail by default, although with some problems.

Then I searched for cartridges that might be available if this is an approach, but no luck, although there is a quick launch of SendGrid.

All I'm trying to do is send a couple of emails from my application. No big volumes or mass marketing campaigns.

Can someone please give me a short and sweet way?

Thanks in advance.

OpenShift Online is hosted on Amazon EC2. Most mail servers are configured to detect and blacklist emails originating from EC2 when spam is detected. Therefore, although it can work at the initial stage, there is a possibility that emails will silently fail after a while due to the fact that they are blacklisted.

It is recommended to relay through a third-party SMTP server / service:
