Vagrant shell script with error with unexplained error `` read-only file system (runtimeerror) ''

Question

I have a small initialization of the shell shell script in the vagrant (to install something the puppet fails ..) script:

the next tip here I have already changed (using sublimetext2) a window string ending in unix. but still failing any ideas

Some features:

Perhaps you are using a shared folder in VirtualBox that does not support symbolic links (unless that has been fixed). There is supposedly a VBoxManage team to fix it now, something like

 VBoxManage setextradata VM_NAME VBoxInternal2/SharedFoldersEnableSymlinksCreate/SHARE_NAME 1 

or this into a Vagrant file (assuming SHARE_NAME is v-root in this):

 config.vm.customize ["setextradata", :id, "VBoxInternal2/SharedFoldersEnableSymlinksCreate/v-root", "1"]

Another possibility is that you can run the script so early in the boot process that the root (or maybe just the / tmp file system) was not re-installed in read / write mode, say if the script is executed from one of scripts /etc/rc.2/S(num)(name), and the number (num) is too low.

I just ran into this error while vagrant up with a virtual machine. In my case, the problem is that the previous copy of the virtual machine was running in the background. Some story:

• The VM for the same project had previously crashed (several hours before), and I had to close the terminal window (macOS) and restart the virtual machine (using vagrant halt + vagrant up ).
• This seems to fix it, and I continued fine and forgot about it.
• Later, after I made changes to the Vagrantfile and wanted to make sure everything worked, I destroyed the VM and vagrant up new one, only to run this error.
• After reading the answer from @ AlexNorth-Keys, I recalled the fact that the virtual machine crashed earlier, so I decided to restart the computer, and then everything worked. I am sure that a copy of the crashed virtual machine must have been running in the background, and sharing it in the project folders was causing problems.

Obviously, this is just an assumption, but restarting the host machine fixed the problem.
