Change cloud service

Is it possible to change the cloud service region (i.e. move from the eastern regions of the USA to the western USA)?

I do not see the possibility from the management console to do this, or maybe I have not calculated it deep enough.

I would like to do this, as I have my database in one region different from my application, and I think that this may decrease performance.

No, there is no way to change the scope of the cloud service. You need to create a new cloud service in the desired region and redirect there. This becomes more complicated when you also have warehouse accounts with data that you need to move. You can probably use Red Gate Cloud Services or another mature product for this.

And you're right about the database and performance. This is not only performance, but also cost savings. When your database is located in different geographical regions, all the data that comes from your database is mainly outgoing traffic (Egress), which is charged for every GB!

You can make your own script using Powershell, which is a powerful tool and can help you, including copying data between regions directly (without passing by your computer). I'm going to know that.
