Unzip the XAP file

Just a silly question: how to unzip a XAP file for WP8. I read a lot of posts, such as “its just zip”, but it won’t work: the zip signature is PK, but the xap has a PRE signature and will not be opened by any zip programs. I got xap from the Windows phone market. Thanks for the help!

XAP is indeed a ZIP file. If you create the application using Visual Studio, you can open the generated XAP file using most ZIP descriptors.

The problem you are facing is that you downloaded XAP from the market. They are encrypted (to prevent piracy) and can only be decrypted using a Windows Phone device.

hmm, I suspect that the main part of decrypting encrypted XAP is not a WP device, but an Internet connection to the WP market and taking into account that the XAP application is registered the way you paid so that you can get the key to decrypt this particular one xap, ... so no, you cannot unpack xap from the market.
