Play SWF files on an Android device without the Flash Player plugin and without web browsing

I have several SWF files that I want to run on my Android device. I used to browse these files in a web browser using a flash player, but now that the plug-in for the flash player is no longer available in the playback store, so that a person who does not have the plug-in flash player can no longer view these files.

How can I show my SWF files without using Flash Player Plugin?

You can use open source code, such as SWFDec , but you will have to port it on android yourself.

How to port: 1. download the swfdec source code from http://swfdec.freedesktop.org 2. cross-compile the swfdec source code for the Android platform 3. read the swfdec source code to learn how to deploy the swfdec surface in the Android view.

Google Swiffy makes HTML5 Flash files friendly.

Google has developed a new tool in its laboratories that converts SWF files to HTML5 for use on devices that cannot run Flash, including Apple.

Firefox comes with SWF support. I had to play a SWF file on Android. Here is how I did it.

  • Download the SWF file for local storage on your device. Most likely, by default it will be located in the root / sdcard / download folder.
  • Open the Firefox browser. Enter the URL: //root/sdcard/download/myFlashFilename.swf

It should show β€œClick to activate the plugin” or a similar message. Click it and it should work.

  • Add this to Bookmark and Add to Home for easy access.
