I use R and ggplot2 to create graphs for my dissertation. I can easily transfer them to tikz objects using tikzdevice or pdf using a pdf device, and in each case, specifying the width and height of the overall graph is simple.
However, I am more interested in determining the width of the AREA chart (i.e. the internal margin), since differences in this (especially for charts on one page) are more easily detected by the eye, even if they are several points different in the final document.
Of course, the source of this problem can easily be attributed to axis labels, which vary depending on the content.
My question is: how can I determine the width of labels with a fixed axis width as a global option or determine the width to be exported as the inner area of ββthe graph for ggplot2 objects ....
