Oprofile vs perf

I am looking for system-wide samplers for Linux. Both perf and OPrfile work with the same hardware counters, so I'm not sure what the difference is between them.

So what are the differences between perf and OProfile and when will you use one or the other?

Perf seems easier to install and run thanks to my limited experience.

Here's a link that may be useful: http://rhaas.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/perf-good-bad-ugly.html

Both can create call diagrams, annotated build / source code, kernel-level event sampling, etc. I do not see much difference between them (not that I used a lot of them).
