tumblr supports copying and adding links from several video sites containing oembed json / xml files (youtube, vimeo, dailymotion), but it seems to ignore others (screenr, ted.com), although these sites also offer valid oembed files.
since there is no information on this topic in the tumblr / documentation in their google / on stackoverlow group: what is the decisive factor? Is there a white list of providers, and if so, who is the person you can contact to get on this white list?

ps: being an embed.ly provider ( http://embed.ly/embed/features/providers ) seems not enough.
