CloudBees Availability Zones and Disaster Recovery

What is the difference between what CloudBees calls for a specific region and what they (and Amazon) call an availability zone?

From what I can say, CloudBees allows you to deploy in 1 of 2 regions / zones: USA and Europe. Are these my only options (both for regional deployments and for accessibility zones)?

Is this a solid disaster recovery plan so that a pool of unoccupied idle copies is deployed to Europe's Europe zone in the event of a complete failure of their US data centers? How is DR usually handled by CloudBees clients?

In the USA and Europe, all zones are used - in each region.

An area consists of many zones - each zone represents at least one data center. DR within the region is managed for you.

You may have dual US / EU settings through various DNS-based services, but then the problem is data replication and compromise with delay / consistency.
