Comparison of Blobstore and Google Cloud Storage

For the GAE app, what are the trade-offs between using Blobstore and GCS?

  • As of August 2015, the prices for blobstore and GCS are the same ($ 0.312 per GB a year).
  • GCS has a more convenient code interface (data referenced by objects similar to file paths)
  • GCS has console commands and a web interface for loading / accessing data.

Are there any advantages for Blobstore that I am missing?

Currently, with my launch, we are using the Blobstore service, and we plan to move to GCS. The only "drawback" I see is that you can no longer resize and crop images directly from the path ( Transforming_Images_from_the_Blobstore ).

In order not to slow down the entire client code, we are thinking of an internal servlet that changes on the fly with the CDN before, in order to cache the most recent jobs.
