Matplotlib: How to set theta range for a polar plot?

Question

I am making a polar contour plot with matplotlib. Data is only in the range from 0 to 90 degrees, but always shows the entire range from 0 to 360 degrees. So, is there a way to set theta range from 0 to 90 degrees?

Any suggestion is appreciated.

This is definitely a nice feature, and I wonder why it hasn't been implemented yet.
