How to get a security certificate for MS Office add-in?

Some people in the office feel uncomfortable, forcing them to disable "macro security for add-ons" to make my add-in work.

How do I get a security certificate for my add-in so that it boots despite the security settings currently set? It's worth it? Does it cost a lot of money?

To do this, you need a code signing certificate. Various certificate authorities issue them:

• http://www.symantec.com/verisign/code-signing/microsoft-authenticode
• http://www.thawte.com/code-signing/content-signing-certificates/microsoft-office/index.html

These are just two, but there are many more.

Of course, you can create your own code signing certificate (actually two, a root certificate and a code signing certificate). But the disadvantage is that you will need to install the root certificate on each computer on which you install the addon.
